We need your help – acdAssist

acdAssist is a new online tool currently under development which we think will make it easier for people to prepare a detailed and well thought out Advanced Care Directive (ACD).

The intention is that acdAssist will help breakdown the barriers that may prevent people from preparing a valid, legal ACD. It will lead you through the process of making decisions, and discussing otherwise difficult issues with your loved ones about your medical care, where and how you live and what matters most to you. After you have worked your way through those issues, and completed the questions, it will provide you with a link to an experienced lawyer to complete the process with you for a fixed up front fee.

ACDs have the power to give your needs and priorities a voice when you do not have the capacity to do so. We hope that acdAssist will help you to find that voice.

To ensure that acdAssist meets the needs of the people that will be using it, we need the assistance of 20 volunteers to participate in a test project.

Volunteers will need an email address and access to a computer or a tablet running Explorer, Safari or Chrome internet browsers. For the purposes of the test project, you may complete acdAssist with the assistance of another trusted person or do so alone. The test will be conducted over 2 stages and participants in both stages will receive a legally valid ACD tailored to their needs for no charge.

Participants will need to be available to attend an introduction session on Thursday, 1 June 2017 from 10am to 11am, and a focus group on Wednesday, 14 June 2017 from 2 to 4pm at COTA SA, 16 Hutt Street, Adelaide.

If you would like to participate, please RSVP to Lyn at COTA SA reception on 08 8232 0422 or cotasa@cotasa.org.au
