Community Visitors Scheme

Community Visitors Scheme

About the Scheme

The Community Visitors Scheme is an Australian Government initiative that provides friendly volunteers for older people who are at risk of loneliness or social isolation. There are times when people may need a little help to stay connected to the wider community. This can happen whether living alone in their own homes, or in Aged Care Homes. Volunteer visitors bring conversation, news, new interest and friendship. Visitors may also bring a special connection through a shared language, life experience, or cultural understanding.

Community Visitors

Volunteering as a Community Visitor can be a rewarding experience for both the visitor and the person they visit. Many great friendships have been kindled through the Community Visitors Scheme.

Community Volunteers are empathetic, trustworthy people from varying backgrounds and cultures who enjoy visiting and spending time with older people in need of companionship, either in an aged care home or in their own home.

Now Recruiting

COTA SA is recruiting volunteers who can enrich the life of an older person and have time to commit to at least one visit a fortnight in the Adelaide metropolitan area, the Mid-North and the Fleurieu Peninsula, Hills and Mallee regions.
