April Falls Day - Having a fall is debilitating for older people.

When: Thursday April 5, 2018
Time: 10am - 3pm
Where: COTA SA, 16 Hutt Street, Adelaide SA 5000

Cost: Free. Light lunch provided.

Having a fall is debilitating for older people. Confidence lessens and the risk of another fall is very likely. If a person breaks a hip, it often results in long hospital stays, months of rehabilitation, and often an inability to stay in the family home.

Come along to the session at COTA to learn about the impact medicines can have on balance; how being frail and losing muscle can be a big predictor of having a fall; what you can do about it and have a test to determine what your risk of falling is.

For consumers and providers:

10 am Welcome and Housekeeping
10:10 am Frailty & Risks of Falls
10:35 am Medicines and Falls
11:00 am Importance of strength and balance exercises
11:15 am Introduction to the Balance Mat
11:30 am Testing on the Balance Mat

**Light lunch**

For providers:

1 pm - 3 pm Balance Mat overview for organisations,
demonstration of the mat and computer readouts.
