Women's Health Week 2017

Put Yourself First - Women's Health Week 2017

It's coming up for that time of year again, the week of the 4th to the 8th of September marks Women's Health Week 2017. The two biggest barriers for women not maintaining a healthy lifestyle are ‘lack of time’ and ‘health not being a priority’. Women’s Health Week is the time to put ourselves first, for just one week, and start making positive changes that can last a lifetime.

When it comes to health, many women are excellent at caring for others but we often put ourselves last. It's time we put ourselves first.

The health of the ones we love starts with us.

By investing more time in ourselves, we are better able to look after the ones we love and care about.

Why Women's Health Week?

In 2013, realising that there was no event dedicated to women's health in Australia, Jean Hailes for Women's Health ran the very first national Women's Health Week. Thousands of women across Australia signed up to take part in a week of online activities, videos, resources and information. Now in its 5th year, Women's Health Week is the time to put yourself first and get talking about women's health.

The event continues to gain groundswell nationally and Jean Hailes provides health information and free resources to support thousands of subscribers and hundreds of local events organised by communities Australia-wide.

COTA SA's Women's Health Week 2017 Event

When: Wednesday September 6, 2017
Time: 9.15am - 12.30pm
Where: COTA SA, 16 Hutt Street, Adelaide SA 5000

Light refreshments provided.

Following on from the very successful Women's Health Event last year, this year will have a different theme. We know that women take on multiple roles in their lives and what the research tell us is that women over 50 are not only looking after children and grandchildren, but often also their parents and in-laws. We know that their own health and wellbeing is regularly neglected as there just isn't the time. The reality is that women are often the glue that hold families together, and unless they sometimes put themselves first, life can start to unravel.

We have some wonderful speakers who will inspire and motivate you to think about your life; are you getting the most out of it and if not how can you change; is how and when we eat affecting our health; can we use exercise as medicine? There will then be a panel of experts in their field to answer your questions.
