Every Generation Festival Heads in Bold New Direction

7/7/2015 - Jane Intini, Every Generation Festival Coordinator

egfThursday 1st - Friday 16th October 2015

The Every Generation Festival is South Australia's premier arts & community festival for older people, regularly attracting over 1,000 registered events with an estimated annual participation of 100,000+. Now in its 48th year, the 2015 event has undergone some significant changes and marks a turning point in the event's history.

In recognition of the transition from a month-long celebration to a two-week event, suitable events held in October outside of the official festival period will be included in the 2015 on-line calendar of events. The calendar will be live at on our website from Monday 8th September.

The 2015 COTA SA Program will be released on Tuesday July 14 on Radio FiveAA at 2.00pm and on many local radio stations across the state over the following 3 days.

It has been over 15 years since COTA SA curated its own program with organisers drawing directly from past successes and adding new twists to old favourites. There will certainly be some surprises, especially among the list of immensely talented, and rather brilliant, famous folk heading to Adelaide from across the country to take part.

The Every Generation Festival is unique among South Australia's major, annual festivals with close to 40% of all activities taking place in regional areas. As always the EGF again offers the opportunity for regional groups and organisations to apply for an event subsidy of up to $300.00. There is also a new category of regional subsidy - the ‘Regional Major Event' - offering up to $750.00 per event for organisations and groups who are experienced in event delivery. Full details, including forms, can be found here. These subsidies are only made possible by the generous support of the Country Health SA - Mental Health Service.

Running alongside the Festival are the Positive Ageing Awards. The awards pay tribute to the considerable and often unheralded work done by a plethora of individuals, groups and organisations for our older communities.

In 2015, we are introducing 3 new awards. The ‘Employer of the Year' Award recognises an employer who exemplifies ageing values and ideals in their workplace; and the Community Project Awards (under $10,000 budget and over $10,000 budget) which recognise programs and projects delivered by organisations large & small.

Anyone can submit a nomination - even nominate yourself or your organisation - and nominations are free. Award nominations close on Friday 7th August

Finally, the 2015 Every Generation Festival is pleased to be able to offer a discount for COTA SA Members on general ticket prices for all COTA SA managed Festival events, so there's no excuse not to make 2015 the year you become part of this fantastic celebration. And there is certain to be an Every Generation Festival event happening in a place near you!
